Jovita Leung

Soprano

Born in Hong Kong, Jovita Leung began her training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), studying with Dr Margreta Elkins and obtained an Advanced Diploma in Vocal Performance. She then continued her studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Australia, studying with Janet Delpratt and obtained her Bachelor of Music Degree under the exchange scholarships.

After Australia, Jovita won The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarships which enable her to further her studies at the Royal Academy of Music. She studied with Joy Mammen and obtained her Postgraduate Performance Diploma and Vocal Teaching Diploma, LRAM.

Jovita is teaching at the HKAPA, The Hong Kong Institute of Education and The Chinese University. She is very active in the local music scenes and and has performed in many productions including the principal role “Aigu” from The Divorce by Lam Shun, the Hong Kong Arts Festival production of the contemporary Chinese opera Night Banquet, the role of “Ida” inDie Fledermaus at Shatin Town Hall and “Frasquita” in Carmen at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre presented by the thenProvisional Urban Council. She has sung the soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and premiered the role of “Zhao Rong” in the chamber opera Dreaming Plum Blossoms Away composed by Law Wing-fai.

Jovita was the featured soprano solo in the “RJJ Voices on the Edge” Concert at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. She was also invited to perform for President Jiang Zemin during his visit to Hong Kong for the 5th Anniversary of Reunification.
