Gary Leung

Violin

Gary Leung Ka Chun has been in love with music since his childhood. He started playing the violin at the age of 10 and is now studying violin with Mr Wang Lai Hang. He obtained his Grade 8 in Music theory and LTCL in violin with distinction. He was taught in the masterclasses by violinist Professor Earl Carlyss and Lewis Kaplan from Juilliard School of Music respectively. 

Active in Orchestra playing, he serves as 1st violin player in Kwai Tsing Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Festival Orchestra. He had collaborated with many renowned artists, including pianist Alan Chu, Kinwai Shum, Mary Wu, Rachel Cheung, cellist Sung-Won Yang, clarinetist Lorenzo Losco (HKPO Bass Clarinet Principle), flutist Thomas Robertello (Guest Principle in Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Yundi Li, Vasily Siniasky (Russian Conductor), cellist Trey Lee, Jiang Wang, Jim Chim and George Lam. With great enthusiasm  in chamber performance, he was taught in the masterclass of The Shanghai Quartet. He also played Mozart violin sonata with local pianist and composer Donald Yu in St. Paul Cathedral.

Gary is experienced in childhood music education. He taught in CCC Chuen Yuen First Primary School and Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Shatin). Leung currently teaches at Tseng Catholic Primary School, Kwong Ming Ying Loi School and Buddhist Chi King Primary School.
